  • Standard advice as follows:
  • Shed doors should be locked or padlocked and garden furniture should be brought inside or secured in place. Trampolines are susceptible to strong winds and should be turned upside down or secured with tent pegs or metal hoops.
  • Wheelie bins should be secured if possible against the side of the property and taken in from the roadside immediately after collection.

The main threat is from the high winds of the storm. Wintry showers can be expected as well but these are expected to be short lived and cause only minor issues.

Fallen trees can be reported via or through the council switchboard (01482 393939), a Highways team or Arboriculture team will attend to deal with the situation.

Can I report an issue with a tree or hedge?

Yes, but if the tree, shrub or hedge are on private land and are causing an issue to the highway or a footway we may require the owner or occupier of the land to lop or cut it so as to remove the cause of danger, obstruction or interference.

Please note: we will not remove healthy trees or hedges unless there are exceptional circumstances, such as there is proof that the tree is causing subsidence damage. Please report it immediately on (01482) 393939 or via the webiste at Trees, hedges and grass cutting (
