Fireworks
We would just like to bring your attention to the firework displays in the village and some of the feelings of the villagers.
On the 18th and 19th July, two families sadly lost their dogs due to the extremely loud fireworks. Both dogs on separate night were scared off, knocked over and killed. This would not have happened if there was more coverage regarding the fireworks in the village, 2 signposts and social media posts do not suffice. It cannot be expected that every member of our valued community is on social media or will happen to walk by the correct venue at the correct time.
A large quantity of the villagers is annoyed by the constant firework displays that go off in the village and are calling for the venues or the people who set off the fireworks to use silent fireworks or drone light displays.
There are petitions in the Budgens, Costcutters, The Old Picture House Pet Shop, Hull Animal Welfare Trust, Wicstun Vets, The Potting Shed, Sewells Petrol Station and Sals Hairdressers.
Fireworks are expected on Bonfire Night, New Years Eve and Diwali but all the others throughout the year really aren’t necessary. Nobody wants to stop people having fun or feeling that by stopping the fireworks their weddings won’t be the same, but, realistically in this day and age you can at least use silent fireworks to save all the wildlife, people with PTSD, children, elderly, and our beloved pets.
We will ask that if you feel the same then please sign the petition and even if you don’t feel the same then please just give some thought to these people and animals before you set off fireworks for the sake of it.
